ABSTRACT
In the period between October, 2000 and November, 2002, a prospective study was conducted involving 22 patients with 24 hips who underwent primary hip arthroplasty in the presence of a proximal femoral deformity. The indication for total hip replacement was intolerable pain interfering with the activities of daily living. The patients were followed up for a mean of 15.3 months. At last follow up, the average Harris hip score [HHS] was 86 [range from 57 to 100] compared with average preoperative HHS of 28.9 [range from 1 to 57]
