ABSTRACT
One hundred patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis had a single staged surgical procedure for correction of their deformity. The age at surgery had an average of 18y. + 5m. The dorsal curves ranged from 28° to 80° with an average of 58.1°. The lumbar curves ranged from 30° to 77° with an average of 46.7°. All patients had posterior correction, instrumentation and fusion. Postoperatively, the curves were corrected to an average of 20.3° and 18.1° respectively. Patients were followed up for an average of 3.5 years with an average loss of correction of 3.7° and 2.9° respectively. Overall, there was no postoperative neurological deficit and no metal failure. Thus, this procedure seems to be effective for correcting the deformity in all three planes
