ABSTRACT
To evaluate the role and benefit of cystometry in treating patients with voiding disorder. Eighty patients with voiding disorders, their age [4-78] years, 42 females and 38 males studied between October 1996 and August 2001, were classified into three groups, first group [40] patients with incontinence of urine, second group [32]patients with retention of urine and third group [8] patients with irritative voiding symptoms included [frequency, urgency, and nocturia]. All patients underwent cystometry using [URODYN-DANTEC 5500]. The commonest causes for voiding disorder in the studied patients were diabetes mellitus, post- transurethral resection of prostate and spinal cord injury. In the first group of patients [87.5%] had abnormal cystometric findings while in the second and third group of patients,[62. 5%]had abnormal cystometry. Cystometry alone has a significant role in the evaluation and treatment of patients with voiding disorder
