ABSTRACT
It is not very uncommon to have patients with a painful swelling in the neck, most probably due to a disease of the thyroid gland in the surgical outpatient. The differential diagnosis of this swelling might pose a serious problem to a less experienced clinician. We present a systematic approach to differential diagnosis of painful thyroid disorder
