Frequency of carcinoma in gall bladder specimens

ABSTRACT
A retrospective study on 485 surgically removed gall bladders was conducted in the Department of Pathology, Dow Medical College, Karachi, between 1st January 1991 to 31st December, 1994. Four hundred and twenty [86.60%] specimens of the gall bladder showed chronic cholecystitis and of these 239 were associated with cholelithiasis. Adenocarcinoma of the gall bladder was seen in 31 [6.39%] specimens and of these 20 were associated with cholelithiasis
