Radiologic position of the puborectalis sling of the levator ani muscle in normal children

ABSTRACT

The authors present a study about the radiologic position of the puborectalis sling of the levator ani muscle in 65 anatomic specimens of normal children. The puborectalis sling of the lavator ani muscle, made visible radiologically, is shown surrounding the rectum posteriorly with a descending concave course from the pubis to the coccyx, on the inferior third of the ischium ossification nucleus and is located below the pubococcygeal line in 93 per cent of the cases
