ABSTRACT
An adhesive based on gelatin-resorcin was used for the treatment of renal wounds in rats. Ten male Wistar rats aged 100 to 120 days and weighing on average 313,9g were used. A lesion was made in the inferior pole of both kidneys. The lesion in the left kidney was sutured with catgut and the lesion in the left kidney was treated with adhesive. Verification of the cavity seven days later showed the formation of adhesions in both groups. The surface of the parenchyma was joined together and there was no fluid in the cavity. The evolution of healing examined by microscopy was similar for both kidneys. We conclude that gelatin-resorcin adhesive is useful for the treatment of renal wounds, promoting good hemostasis and leaving the healing process unchanged.
