Ideas sobre la consunción en un libro de medicina doméstica del siglo XVIII / Domestic medicine: on consumption

RESUMEN

El libro Domestic Medicine, de William Buchan, escrito en 1769, fue el primero del tipo información médica para el hogar. Con el objeto de aportar datos para el conocimiento de la historia de los conceptos sobre la naturaleza y tratamiento de la tuberculosis, se transcribe y comenta brevemente el capítulo sobre la consunción, tomado de una versión castellana de 1890, pero muy similar a la segunda edición en inglés de 1785, por lo que representa ideas en boga en el siglo XVIII.

ABSTRACT

The book Domestic Medicine by William Buchan, written in 1769, was the first household guide to diagnosis and therapy. With the purpose of providing information for the history of concepts about the nature and treatment of tuberculosis, the chapter on consumption is transcribed and briefly commented. It was taken from a 1890 Spanish version of the book very similar to the 1785 second edition in English, thus representing ideas in vogue in the 18th century.
