RESUMO

Fibromialgia é uma doença comum, de origem obscura, cujo diagnóstico afasta um pouco o médico do seu paciente. Estar diante de um paciente com hipótese de diagnóstico de fibromialgia requer o estabelecimento de cronologia de atos que envolvem diagnóstico diferencial, verificação de doenças associadas e avaliação de todo o quadro clínico do paciente. A cada nova consulta os sintomas relatados pelo paciente devem ser avaliados quanto à possibilidade ou não de serem em decorrência da fibromialgia. A avaliação da saúde mental, a orientação sobre a doença e o fundamental incentivo à atividade física são cruciais para o sucesso terapêutico.

ABSTRACT

Fibromyalgia is a common disease that has no clear cause and with such a diagnosis that pushes the physician away from the patient. Facing a suspected case of fibromyalgia requires a certain methodology that includes differential diagnosing, checking for any related diseases and examining all the patient clinical status. For each new consult, the reported symptoms shall be checked for its relationship, whether causative or consequential, to the underlying fibromyalgia. Mental health evaluation, explanation about the many aspects of the disease and the fundamental motivation for physical activities are essential to successful therapeutics.
