Introduction:
The current study presented its main goal of evaluate head and neck posture in rest position of patients with bruxism and patients with TMD signs and/or symptoms and relate them with the occlusal classification of Angle. Methods:
Fifty four volunteers participated in this research, aging 18 to 27 years old, with an average of 22,5 years old. The volunteers were divided into 2 groups Group 1 27 subjects presenting parafunctions (teeth grinding or clenching), and Group 2 27 subjects without parafunction habits (control group). All volunteers were photographed and their pictures analyzed and compared with the software AlcimagemÒ. Results andconclusion:
The results demonstrated that variation of angular values did not present statistical difference (IC 95%; IC dif 95%) for the studied groups. Regarding the occlusal class, Angle class I was predominant in Group 2; classes II and III were predominant in Group 1. The Mental-Sternal angle calculated did not present statistical significance between the groups, however, there was a greater variation between the smaller angle and the higher angle in Group 1, contrary to Group 2.
