Conceptos y conocimientos de los estudiantes frente a seguridad industrial ocular en los talleres del Instituto Tecnico Industrial Piloto de Bogotá / Students’ concepts and knowledge regarding ocular industrial security in the workshops of the Instituto Tecnico Industrial Piloto in Bogota

RESUMEN

Para toda institución de educación media técnica es importante conocer los conceptos que los estudiantes tienen frente a la seguridad industrial ocular dado que de estos conocimientos depende la ocurrencia de incidentes y accidentes en los ojos de sus estudiantes.En el Instituto Técnico Industrial Piloto de Bogotá, se aplicó una encuesta con cinco preguntas cerradas, a una muestra de 582 estudiantes que rotan por los talleres del colegio en las dos jornadas, para conocer los conceptos que ellos manejan relacionados con seguridad industrial. Se encontró que los estudiantes de la jornada de la tarde casi siempre utilizan los elementos de protección personal visuales y los de la mañana los utilizan siempre en un porcentaje más bajo. Los estudiantes en las dos jornadas reportan que siempre siguen las normas y tienen en cuenta la señalización que existe en los talleres del colegio respecto a protección visual, con porcentajes entre 46,60 por ciento y 45,83 por ciento.Los estudiantes de las dos jornadas conocen los riesgos que pueden desencadenar accidentes visuales en los talleres y consideran para las dos jornadas que el taller más peligroso es metalistería, seguido de ebanistería.

ABSTRACT

Every technical high education institution mustknow the concept students have regarding ocularindustrial security, because incidents and accidentsin students’ eyes depend on this knowledge. Methods:in the Instituto Técnico Industrial Piloto in Bogotá,a survey was done with five close questions to 582students who work in the School workshops in themorning and in the afternoon schedule, in order toknow the concepts they have regarding industrialsecurity. The results showed that students in theafternoon schedule almost always wear personal eyeprotection elements and in the morning schedulewear them in a lower percentage. Students in bothschedules report that they always follow the rulesand take into account the signals located in theworkshops regarding eye protection, with percentagesbetween 46,60 percent and 45,83 percent. Students in bothschedules say that they know the risks may provokeeye accidents in the workshops and they think themost dangerous workshop is metalworking, followedby cabinet making. Between 85,71 percent and 88,89 percent ofthe students in both schedules have not suffered eyeaccidents in the workshops. Conclusions: personalprotection elements are almost always used in bothschedules and students follow the rules and take intoaccount the signals, and there fore there has been alow percentage of eye accidents according to statisticreports in previous years, 2003-2005.
