Diagnostico de las patologías de los tejidos blandos en mujeres con prótesis total o parcial removible / Diagnosis of soft tissue pathologies in women with full or partial removable dentures

RESUMEN

Se presenta un trabajo descriptivo de la condición oral de 52 mujeres de 50 o más años que utilizan prótesis total o parcial removible y que asisten a consulta odontológica en el Centro de Salud Diego Lalinde de la Secreiaría de Salud Pública Municipal de Santiago de Cali. En cada paciente se practicó examen intra y extra oral con especial énfasis en el paladar y surco yugal, para diagnosticar Estomatitis e Hiperplasia por prótesis; al mismo tiempo se examinó la mucosa oral en su conjunto con el objetivo de lograr un diagnóstico clínico de las patologías de los tejidos blandos en pacientes con prótesis total o parcial removible. Este estudio determinó que el 83% presentaba enfermedad de los tejidos blandos por trauma protésico, 65% atrofia del reborde alveolar, 56% Estomatitis por prótesis y 2% con características de Cáncer Oral.

ABSTRACT

A descriptive study is presented in a population of 52 women older than 50 years that use full dentures or removable partial prosthesis population included women that recieved dental attention at the health center Diego Lalinde, wich belongs to the local Health administration of Cali. An internal and external avaluation was made with emphasis in the palate and the yugal sulcus, to diagnosticate stomatitis and hyperplasia as a consequence of the use of prosthesis. At the same time, the oral mucosa was evaluated as a whole to establish an early clinical diagnosis of oral cancer. In conclusion, this study revealed that women that use full dentures or removable partial prosthesis, 83% of them presented some kind of soft tissue damage caused by a prothestic trauma; 65 % of them presented a decrease in the alvedar bone; 56% of them presented estomatítis caused by the use of the prosthesis; and only one subject had the characteristics of oral cancer.
