Configurações/contradições do processo identitário de afro-descendentes: um estudo de caso / Configurations/contradictions of the african descendants’ identitary process: a case study

RESUMO

Através deste trabalho, buscamos proceder à reonstrução histórica de alguns momentos da trajetória de um grupo de afro-descendentes, com o objetivo de esclarecer a configuração da produção de estratégias de resistência, a presença das manifestações do preconceito racial e suas possíveis articulações com os processos identitários. Compreendemos que, de maneira geral, o sentido do processo identitário desses sujeitos apresenta-se como uma luta emancipatória, embora em alguns momentos essa situação se configure de maneira inversa, de modo que seus projetos políticos são obstados por forças coercitivas de ordem externa ou a partir da interiorização de valores vigentes.

ABSTRACT

Through this work, we tried to proceed to the historical reconstruction of some moments of the trajectory of a group of African descendants, aiming at enlightening the configuration of the production of resistance strategies, the presence of the manifestations of racial prejudice and their possible articulations to the identitary processes. We understand that, generally, the meaning of the identity process of these subjects presents itself as an emancipatory struggle, although, in some moments, this situation may come out with the inverse configuration, in such a way that their political projects are hampered either by coercing forces of external order or due to the internalization of current values.
