Família e as formas de proteção social primária aos idosos / Families and the form of basic social protection of the elderly

RESUMO

O objetivo deste artigo é identificar as mudanças importantes na dinâmica das famílias trazidas pelo envelhecimento populacional e, mais especificamente, as mudanças na composição das famílias com idosos ou de idosos que freqüentam o Programa Terceira Idade em Ação – PTIA/UFPI, bem como explicitar como se efetivam as contribuições da família para a proteção social dos idosos e destes para com as gerações mais jovens.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this article is to identify the important changes that have occurred in the dynamics of the families brought about by the population’s aging and, more specifically, the changes in the composition of families with elderly members or elderly individuals who attend Programa Terceira Idade em Ação (PTIA – Program for the Elderly in Action) at UFPI (Federal University of Piauí). It also explains how the family contributions to the social protection of the elderly are accomplished, as well as the elderly protection of the younger generations.
