RESUMEN

Hoy en día es imposible imaginar un procedimiento quirúrgico, por más simple que éste sea, sin la invalorable ayuda de la analgesia y/o anestesia. Sin embargo, durante siglos no existieron estos medios tecnológicos, y ése fue uno de los factores que impidieron el desarrollo de la cirugía. El objetivo de este artículo es relatar el progreso y los principales hitos ocurridos desde la época precolombina hasta 1947, en que se cumplieron los primeros cien años de la introducción de la anestesiología en el Perú.

ABSTRACT

Today it is impossible to imagine a surgical procedure, for more simple this is, without the invaluable help of analgesia or anesthesia. However, for centuries these technological means did not exist, and that was one of the factors that prevented the development of the surgery. The aim of this paper is to report the progress and major milestones that have occurred since the pre-columbian times until 1947, which met the first 100 years of the introduction of anesthesiology in Peru
