RESUMO

Este artigo discute o papel do Estado e do movimento feminista no controle da violência contra as mulheres. Problematiza a definição de violência e apresenta o contexto de luta política, em níveis nacional, internacional e também subjetivo, ilustrado no caso de Maria da Penha. A contextualização política do drama pessoal das mulheres vítimas é abordada de maneira a valorizar a participação e a autonomia das mulheres ao longo do processo de ajuda oferecido pelo Estado. Argumenta a importância da convergência de ações de promotores, magistrados, equipes multidisciplinares e mulheres vítimas no processo de interpretação da violência a fim de buscar a melhor forma de garantir a integridade física e a segurança dessas mulheres. Ao final, tece breve comentário sobre os desafios da psicologia nesse contexto.

ABSTRACT

This article discusses the roles of State and the feminist movement in the control of violence against women. It stresses the definition of violence and presents the national, international and personal political struggle, as it is illustrated in the case of Maria da Penha. The political contextualization of the personal drama of women victims of violence is considered in order to value women’s autonomy and their participation along the helping process offered by the State. Argues about the importance of converging actions of prosecutors, judges, multidisciplinary teams and women victims in the process of interpreting violence in order to pursue the best way to guarantee women’s safety and their physical integrity. At the end, brief comments are made about the challenges of psychology in this context.
