Ensino de bioética e cuidados paliativos nas escolas médicas do Brasil / The teaching of bioethics and palliative care in brazilian medical schools

RESUMO

Este artigo avalia a atual situação curricular da Bioética e Cuidados Paliativos nas escolas médicas brasileiras. A articulação entre o ensino de Bioética e Cuidados Paliativos tem sido pouco investigada na área da saúde. Os profissionais responsáveis pela elaboração dos currículos parecem não se preocupar com o conhecimento dessas áreas e com a formação de profissionais que atendam às necessidades emergentes do campo da Bioética, com ênfase em cuidados paliativos.

ABSTRACT

This paper aims to assess the current status of the teaching of Bioethics and Palliative Care in Brazilian medical schools. The link between the teaching of bioethics and palliative care has been neglected by investigation in the healthcare field. The professionals responsible for the development of curricula do not seem to be concerned about knowledge on these topics and the training of professionals to meet the needs of the emerging field of bioethics, with a focus on palliative care.
