Objective:
To identify the predictive value of clinical variables in the outcome of the Upright Tilt Table Test (UTTT).Methods:
Sequentially patients referred for assessment of syncope who underwent (UTTT) were investigated in relation to their clinical characteristics and the results of tests. The protocol of the UTTT consisted of a 70 degrees inclination of the patient for 46 minutes without any drug followed by another 16 minutes with the infusion ofisoproterenol. Results:
One hundred thirty three patients were investigated. The female were more prevalent (58.6%). The average age was 42.4 ±21.3 years. The family historyof syncope (73% with history had positive results; OD=2.63; CI 95% 1.08 6.42; p=0.03), correlated with the positive outcome in the test. The sex and other clinical variables did not influence the results. Conclusions:
There is a poor correlation between clinical variables and outcomes in the UTTT. The family history of syncope correlated with a positive result in the UTTT
