A medicalização do psíquico: o uso do termo psicose nos manuais diagnósticos estatísticos / The medication of psychic: the use of the term psychosis in statistical diagnostic manuals

RESUMO

O objetivo desse artigo é demonstrar, a partir do exemplo de como a psicose é tratada nos manuais estatísticos de diagnóstico de transtornos mentais, em especial o DSM-IV-TR, o processo de medicalização do psíquico. Desse modo, em primeiro lugar apresentamos o debate entre a psicanálise e a psiquiatria biológica para, em seguida, apresentar como a psicose é tratada no DSM-IV-TR e suas insuficiências quando cotejamos essas definições com a clínica psicanalítica.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this article is to show the process of medication of psychic through examples of how psychosis is treated in diagnosis and mental disorder statistical manuals, specially the DSM-IV-TR. Firstly, there is a debate between psychoanalysis and biological psychiatry. Then, it is presented how the psychosis is treated in the DSM-IV-TR and its lacking when compared these definitions with the psychoanalytical clinic ones.
