Estudio comparativo de modelos superiores en pacientes con fisura labiopalatinaunilateral completa / Comparative study of upper models in patients with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate

RESUMEN

El propósito de este estudio fue evaluar los cambios producidos en el maxilar superior según el tipo de ortopedia prequirúrgica utilizada en pacientes con fisura labiopalatina unilateral completa. El total de la muestra estuvo compuesta por 42 pacientes. Un grupo fue constituido por 21 pacientes tratados con parche Dynacleft y el otro grupo estuvo integrado por 21 pacientes tratados con el modelado naso-alveolar de Grayson. Ambas muestras estuvieron compuestas por 42 modelos de estudio, de los cuales 21 representaron el inicio y otros 21 modelos, el término del tratamiento. Las mediciones realizadas fueron ancho de la fisura anterior, ancho del arco alveolar anterior, ancho del arco alveolar posterior, longitud antero-posterior del maxilar y alineación entre los segmentos fisurados. Todas las distancias fueron medidas en milímetros (mm) con un escalímetro digital de acero inoxidable. Según este estudio, al finalizar el tratamiento ortopédico prequirúrgico, los pacientes que utilizaron modelado naso-alveolar de Grayson lograron un menor ancho de la fisura anterior y un mejor alineamiento entre sus segmentos, en comparación con pacientes tratados con Dynacleft

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the maxilla produced by pre-surgical orthopedics used in patients with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate. The whole sample was composed of 42 models of study , 21 of which represented the begining and 21 other models, the end of the treatment. Measurements taken were the width of the anterior cleft, width of the anterior alveolar arch, the width of the posterior alveolar arch, anterior-posterior maxillary length and the alignment between the cleft segments. All distances were measured in millimeters (mm) with a digital caliper. According to this study, at the end of the pre-surgical orthopedic treatment, patients who had used Grayson Naso-alveolar Molding achieved a smaller width of the anterior fissure and a better alignment between its segments, compared to the patients treated with Dynacleft
