Melhoria do acesso à saúde bucal na estratégia de saúde da família: uma revisão de literatura / Improving access to oral health in the family health strategy: a literature review

RESUMO

A política de saúde bucal vem enfrentando, ao longo dos anos, o desafio de tornar suas ações e serviços mais acessíveis para a população. A inclusão da saúde bucal na Estratégia de Saúde da Família possibilitou um avanço na prática odontológica, principalmente por propiciar a possibilidade de mudança do modelo excludente e tecnicista para um modelo que valoriza o trabalho em equipe, a epidemiologia e a interdisciplinaridade. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão de literatura, buscando identificar se as equipes de saúde bucal na Estratégia de Saúde da Família melhoram o acesso aos serviços odontológicos. A revisão foi realizada na BIREME, nas bases BBO, LILACS e SCIELO, por artigos publicados após o ano 2000 e em língua portuguesa. Os resultados encontrados demonstram que as equipes de saúde bucal melhoram o acesso aos serviços de saúde bucal, mas, para que realmente ocorra melhoria no acesso e acessibilidade desses serviços, é necessária uma mudança no modelo assistencial da saúde bucal, no perfil dos profissionais e na vontade política dos gestores.

ABSTRACT

Oral health policy has faced, over the years, the challenge of making its programs and services more accessible to the population. The inclusion of oral health in the Family Health Strategy has enabled a breakthrough in dental practice, mainly because it offers the possibility of changing from the exclusive and technicist model to a model that values t eamwork, epidemiology, and interdisciplinarity. Oral health in the Family Health Strategy aims to increase access to programs and services, and improve oral health epidemiological indices and quality of life. The objective of this study was to conduct a literature review in order to identify whether the oral health teams in the Family Health Strategy improve access to dental services. The review was conducted in the BIREME, in the BBO, LILACS, and SciELO databases, for articles published after the year 2000, in Portuguese. The results demonstrate that oral health teams improve access to oral health services, but for improved access and accessibility of these services to actually occur, a change in the oral health care model, the professional's profile, and the political will of management is necessary.
