"Se liga nessa" telefone celular e adolescência: implicações de uso na família e grupo de Amigos / Stay tuned mobile phone and youth: implications for use in family and group of friends

RESUMO

Esse artigo descreve o perfil dos adolescentes usuários de telefone celular considerando as variáveis sexo, idade e o fato de possuir ou não um aparelho. Também apresenta associações com o suporte social percebido pelos jovens quanto à família e amigos. Investigou-se 534 adolescentes com idades entre 12 e 17 anos, de ambos os sexos, estudantes de escolas públicas e privadas da cidade de Porto Alegre-RS, Brasil. Utilizou-se o Questionário sobre o uso do telefone celular, traduzido e adaptado para o português (Malo, 2009). Os resultados indicaram que o telefone celular é altamente valorizado pelos jovens em função do que ele representa. A posse do celular intermedia a relação com os progenitores, incrementa a sensação de pertencimento ao grupo e seu uso apresenta diferentes repercussões nas relações familiares e sociais.

ABSTRACT

This article describes the profile from the adolescent’s users of mobile phone regarding the variables sex, age and the occurrence of owning or not an apparatus. Also presents associations with the social support perceived by youngsters about their family and friends. It has been investigating 534 adolescents with ages among 12 and 17 years, male and female, students of publics and private schools from the city of Porto Alegre – RS, Brasil. It has used the Questionnaire about the use of the cell phone, translated and adapted to portuguese (Malo, 2009). The outcomes indicate that the mobile phones are highly valued by young people because of what it. The ownership of the mobile phone mediates the relationship with parents, increases the feeling of belonging to the group and its use has different effects on the family and social relationships.
