Análise de estudos brasileiros sobre o pai e o desenvolvimento infantil / Analysis of Brazilian studies about father and child development

RESUMO

Os estudos sobre a relação entre pai e filho e sobre a influência do pai no desenvolvimento da criança têm aumentado nas últimas décadas, mas a produção nacional ainda é reduzida. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar a produção acadêmica brasileira sobre o tema. Realizou-se uma busca sistemática em três bases de dados bibliográficas Index Psi, PEPsic e Scielo Brasil. Utilizaram-se as palavras-chave “pai”, “father”, “desenvolvimento infantil”, “desenvolvimento da criança” e “child development”. Selecionou-se 29 obras, que foram analisadas por meio de categorias. A temática mais presente nos estudos foi o comportamento paterno, bem como sua relação com o desenvolvimento infantil. Há um maior número de estudos empíricos, todos transversais. Constata-se a prevalência de pesquisas de levantamento de dados, e sua maioria coletados por meio de questionários e entrevistas. Faz-se necessário a ampliação dos estudos sobre o pai e sua importância no desenvolvimento infantil, mediante construção de diferentes arranjos metodológicos.

ABSTRACT

Studies about relationship between father and son and the influence of the father in child development have increased in recent decades, but national production is still low. The aim of this study was to characterize the Brazilian academic production about this subject. We conducted a systematic search in three bibliographic databases Index Psi, PEPsic and SciELO Brazil. We used the keywords “pai”, “father”, “desenvolvimento infantil”, “desenvolvimento da criança” and “child development”. We selected 29 studies, which were analyzed by categories. The most recurrent theme in the studies was the paternal behavior and its relation to child development. There are a large number of empirical studies, and all of them are cross-sectional. It was observed a prevalence of survey research data, and mostly collected through questionnaires and interviews. It is necessary to expand the studies on fathers and their importance in child development through by building different methodological arrangements.
