RESUMO

As fotografias integram o conjunto de registros primordiais ao início do tratamento ortodôntico dos pacientes. Se forem tomadas corretamente, elas oferecem informações de grande utilidade para fins legais, diagnósticos e educacionais. No entanto, alguns problemas podem existir na aquisição ou tratamento das fotos, os quais as fazem traduzir erroneamente o estado atual do paciente. Para realizar uma análise confiável utilizando fotografias, é necessário dar atenção às técnicas preconizadas, equipamento adequado e local próprio. Este artigo objetivou explicar as causas dos erros mais frequentes referentes às fotografias documentais ortodônticas e como o ortodontista clínico pode evitá-los.

ABSTRACT

The photographs are part of the set of primordial records for the beginning of orthodontic treatment of patients. If taken properly, they provide useful information for legal, educational and diagnostic purposes. However, some problems may exist in the acquisition or processing of the images which are erroneously translate the current state of the patient. To perform a reliable analysis using photographs is necessary attention to the techniques recommended, proper equipment and proper place This article aims to explain the causes of the most frequent errors related to orthodontic documentary photographs and how the clinical orthodontist can avoid them.
