Educação e envelhecimento bem-sucedido: reflexões sobre saúde e autocuidado / Education and successful aging: reflections on health and self-care

RESUMO

O envelhecimento é um fenômeno mundial que acontece de forma diferente em países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento, já que a velhice bem-sucedida é interdependente de condições biológicas, psicológicas e sociais favoráveis ao exercício do autocuidado para a saúde. Tais práticas são, frequentemente, cultivadas por meio da educação que entremeia o processo de envelhecimento e a saúde. Este ensaio discorreu sobre a relação entre educação, autocuidado e saúde na velhice bem sucedida no contexto brasileiro. Foram considerados importantes aportes voltados ao tema em que foi possível observar a multiplicidade de produções que, frequentemente, contrastam com a realidade objetiva da saúde do idoso no Brasil. As considerações finais alertam para a urgência de efetivação de ações que tirem a cidadania do papel e promovam um ambiente em que o sujeito que envelhece tenha a certeza de que envelhecerá de forma bem-sucedida...

ABSTRACT

Aging is a global phenomena, observed in different forms in developed countries and in developing countries, since successful aging is interdependent of biological, psychological and social conditions favoring to the exercise of selfcare to health. Such practices are often cultivated through education that intertwines with the process of aging and health. This essay discusses the relation of education, selfcare and health for the successful aging in a brazilian context. Considered important articles and books about the theme permitted observe a multiple production that, often, contrasts with the objective reality of elderly’s health in the Brazil. Final considerations alert for the urgency of effective actions that take the role of the citizenship from a sketch and promotes an environment in which the subject that ages rest assured that the process of aging will be successful...
