Ejercer la odontología desde una perspectiva bioética / Dental practices bioethics aproach

RESUMEN

El ejercicio de la Odontología ya no es posible considerarlo desde el punto de vista paternalista, donde el profesional decidía la terapéutica a aplicar, con la idea de que ese era el protocolo apropiado y sobre ello no había ninguna otra opinión, ni siquiera explicación. Después de reflexionar y utilizando el método del análisis de la literatura estudiada, se evidencia que para respetar los derechos humanos, hay aplicar los principios de la Bioética, a las personas que acuden a los servicios de salud en busca de atención a sus problemas o necesidades sanitarias, al igual que sus familiares o representantes legales, si fuere el caso, es necesario establecer utilizando la empatía, un proceso de negociación entre las partes para que los Odontólogos puedan explicar los tratamientos, beneficios y riesgos que pueden sobrevenir y para escuchar de los pacientes sus dudas, las expectativas que tengan y los planteamientos que quieran hacer. Este proceso debe quedar plasmado en el expediente clínico y a través de lo que se ha denominado, consentimiento informado. Es un documento, que para ser efectivo y válido, debe desarrollar todos los principios de la Bioética y así, pueda cumplir con su objetivo. De esta manera, el ejercicio de la profesión debe realizarse desde el punto de vista científico y humanista, para lograr una verdadera calidad de servicio.

ABSTRACT

The practice of dentistry is no longer possible to consider it from the point of view paternalistic, where the professional therapeutic decided to apply, with the idea that this was the proper protocol and on it there was no other opinion, not even an explanation. After reflecting and using the method of analysis of the literature studied, it is evident that to respect human rights, are applying the principles of bioethics, people attending health services for attention to their problems or needs health, as well as their families or legal representatives, if applicable, must be established using empathy, a process of negotiation between the parties so that dentists can explain treatments, benefits and risks that may occur and to listen to the patients doubts, expectations and approaches that are wanting to do. This process should be reflected in the clinical record and through what has been called, informed consent. It is a document that to be effective and valid, must develop all the principles of bioethics and thus to fulfill its purpose. Thus, the practice of the profession must be done from the standpoint of scientific and humanistic, for true quality of service.
