Sociedad de la información y el conocimiento: incidencia en el avance informacional en ciencias médicas / Information and knowledge society: its incidence upon the informational advance in the medical sciences

RESUMEN

Se realizó revisión bibliográfica acerca de temas relacionados con la sociedad del conocimiento y la información. Se reflejaron los avances logrados con el surgimiento de Infomed, red de salud de Cuba, el papel de la adquisición e introducción de las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones, la capacitación, el empleo y la aplicación por los profesionales de la salud. Se muestran en publicaciones de revistas electrónicas cubanas las brechas que indican su explotación aún insuficiente. Acorde con lo analizado, los autores consideran que constituye la alfabetización informacional una asignatura pendiente del pregrado y del posgrado en las ciencias médicas que no solo limita el acercamiento de sus profesionales a la sociedad del conocimiento, sino que restringe su desarrollo en la actual era de la información.

ABSTRACT

A bibliographic review was carried out about topics related to the Information and knowledge society. The advances with the emerging of Infomed, the Cuban health network, the role of the acquisition and introduction of the information and communication technologies, training, use and its application by the health professionals were reflected. Even insufficiently, the trends that indicate its usage are shown in the issues of electronic journals. According to the analisis cariesd out, the authors considered that the informational literacy is still a concern in undergraduate as well as in postgraduate students in the medical sciences, which not only limit the approach of the professionals to the knowledge society, but also shorten its development in the current information era.
