Infección de artroplastia total de rodilla: revisión en dos tiempos quirúrgicos: Hospital de San José, Bogotá DC / Infection after total knee arthroplasty: A two-staged revision - Hospital de San José, Bogotá DC

RESUMEN

Entre 2007 y 2010 se realizaron en el Hospital de San José de Bogotá DC siete revisiones de remplazo total de rodilla por infección con la técnica de reesterilización de la prótesis. Tres pacientes fueron llevados a segundo tiempo quirúrgico como manejo definitivo, en todos se consiguió erradicación de la infección y en dos los resultados funcionales buenos según el puntaje Knee Society Score. De los pacientes no incluidos, tres continúan con el espaciador y en uno se tuvo que realizar artrodesis en el segundo tiempo quirúrgico debido a persistencia de la infección. Se presenta la técnica quirúrgica de reesterilización de los componentes protésicos y su uso a manera de espaciador articulado, como alternativa para el manejo efectivo de la infección en la prótesis total de rodilla.

ABSTRACT

Seven revisions of total knee replacement due to infection were conducted between 2007 and 2010 at Hospital de San José de Bogotá DC using the prosthesis re-sterilization technique. Three patients undertook a second surgical stage as definite treatment, infection eradication was achieved in all and functional results were good according to the Knee Society Score in two of the patients. Of patients not included, three still have the spacer and a second stage arthrodesis had to be conducted in one due to persistent infection. The re sterilization of prosthesis components technique and its use as an articulating spacer is herein presented as a management alternative to effectively treat infection in total knee prosthesis.
