Paternidade no contexto da adoção / Fatherhood in the context of adoption

RESUMO

Existem diferentes caminhos para ser pai. Um deles é por meio da adoção. O presente estudo tem como objetivoinvestigar a paternidade nesse contexto. Os objetivos específicos sãodescrever a vivência dos pais durante a espera pela criança; caracterizar a experiência de paternidade; e identificar os sentimentos e as percepções dos pais com relação aos filhos. Participaram do estudoquatro pais (homens) que possuíam um filho adotivo na idade de três ou quatro anos.Realizouse uma entrevista, cujo conteúdo foi analisadoqualitativamente por meio da análise categorial temática. Verificou-se, dentre os resultados, que a) o período de espera pela criança foi vivenciado como um momento de ansiedade; b) os pais experienciarama paternidade como algo gratificante; e c) dentre os sentimentos que os pais nutrem pelos seus filhos está o amor e medo/preocupação com relação ao bem-estar do filho. Conclui-se que os pais adotivos se mostraram envolvidos com seus filhos.(AU)

ABSTRACT

There are different ways to be a father. One is through the adoption. The present study aimed to investigate the fatherhood in the context of adoption. The specific aims are describe the experience of fathers while they were waiting for the child; characterize the parenting experience; and identify the feelings and perceptions of fathers about their children. Study participants were four fathers who had an adopted child at the age of three or four years. It was realized an interview, whose content was analyzed qualitatively by thematic categorical analysis. It was found as result that a) the moment of waiting for the child was experienced as a moment of anxiety; b) fathers experienced the fatherhood as something rewarding; c) among the feelings that fathers have with their children is the love and fear/concern aboutthe child's welfare. It was concluded that adoptive fathers are very involved with their children.(AU)
