ABSTRACT
【Objective】 To explore the blood donation status of voluntary donors aged 55 to 60, and to provide references for the publicity and recruitment of elderly blood donors in China. 【Methods】 Based on statistics of voluntary blood donors in Anyang city from 2012 to 2020, 18~54 years old blood donors were taken as the control group, the annual growth rate, gender, deferral rate and the incidence of adverse actions to blood donation of blood donors aged 55~60 were analyzed. 【Results】 Blood donors in Anyang has been increasing year by year, and the annual increase of blood donors aged 55 to 60 was significant(34.64%). Male blood donors were always more than women, however the ratio of men to women has decreased in recent years(269.3 in the 55~60 year old group significantly higher than that in the 18~54 age group). In the same group, the deferral rate of male blood donors was higher than that of female. The deferral rate of blood donors in the 55~60 age group(1.44%) was significantly lower than that in the 18~54 age group(2.62%), with 55~60 aged female blood donors as the lowest(1.33%). Significant difference was observed in the annual growth rate, gender and unqualified rate of blood donors between the two groups, but no difference was noticed in the incidence of adverse reactions. 【Conclusion】 Timely adjusting publicity and recruitment strategies to retain 55~60 year old blood donors as regular blood donors can relieve the pressure of clinical blood supply, which is a helpful complement to develop regular blood donors from low-risk young blood donors.
