ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the clinical effect of tongue cancer patients after surgery with radial forearm flap in tongue reconstruction. Methods 60 tongue cancer patients after surgery were selected and randomly divided into the pectoralis major latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap group and free forearm group,30 patients in each group. The tongue flap survival and healing, voice function recovery, lingual satisfaction, reconstruction complications and the quality of life, etc were observed. Results The survival rate and healing rate of flap in the forearm flap group were significantly higher than those of latissimus dorsi myocutaneous breast patients (93.33% vs 70.00%,96.60% vs 70.00%,all P <0.05).Forearm patients speech function recovery and tongue body shape satisfaction were signifi cantlybetter thanthepectoralismajormusclegroups (96.67 % vs 66.67 %,P < 0.05).Aftersurgery,the complica tions of forearm group was less than pectoralis major group (13.33% vs 36.37%,P < 0.05).Quality of life score of forearm group was significantly higher than the pectoralis major group[(981.00 ± 10.47)points vs (902.00 ± 22.54) points,(P < 0.05)].Conclusion In patients with tongue cancer after surgery with radial forearm flap in tongue reconstruction, the advantages are ideal survival rate and healing situation, good voice function recovery degree, high tongue body shape satisfaction and less complications, and has the positive influence to the patients quality of life after surgery.
