Studies on Pharmacological Action of Xingnaojing Injection / 中国药房

ABSTRACT

Xingnaojing injection (XNJ) is a mixture extracted and refined from Chinese materia mediea by scientific methods. In this study, the action of XNJ on central nervous system was experimentally evaluated by its effects on free activity of mice, stryehine-induced convulsion, sedation resulting from pentobarbital and respiratory inhibition caused by morphine. The results show that XNJ exhibits biphasie effect on central nervous system, i. e. in small dose, it is a stimulant, while in large dose, an inhibitor.
