ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the expression of mitogen- activated protein kinase and mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase-1 in thoracic aorta smooth muscles of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) with different ages and the relationship between those and hypertension. METHODS: The caudal arterial pressure was measured by tail-cuff. Protein expression of p-ERK was detected by Western blotting, and MKP-1 mRNA in thoracic aorta smooth muscle was examined by RT-PCR.
