Yiqi Jianxin Decoction for Peripartum Cardiomyopathy:A Clinical Observation on 35 Cases / 中医杂志

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Yiqi Jianxin Decoction(decoction for reinforcing qi to promote functions of heart) on patients with peripartum cardiomyopathy(PPCM).Methods Seventy patients were randomly divided into 2 groups,35 in each.The control group was administered standard western medical therapy,and the treated group was administered both Yiqi Jianxin Decoction and western medicine.Symptoms,signs and heart function before and after treatment were observed for comparison.Results In the treated group,the improvement of clinical symptoms and signs,such as chest distress,palpitation,asthmatic breathing,fatigue and arrhythmia,and parameters of heart function about cardiac output(CO),stroke volume(SV),cardiac index(CI),left ventricular eject fraction(EF) and gradation of heart function was significantly superior to that in the control group(P
