ULTRASONOGRAPHY IN BLUNT ABDOMINAL TRAUMA / 解放军医学杂志

ABSTRACT

28 patients with blunt abdominal trauma were evaluated by ultrasonography. The diagnosis were confirmed at operation in 20 patients and clinical follow-up in 8. There was one false negative. In 27 patients, the demonstrated abnormalities were intraperitoneal fluid, hepatic, splenic or renal hcmatoma, perisplenic fluid, intrarenal fluid (urinoma) and pleural effusion. It is concluded that ultrasonography is valuable in the diagnosis and follow-up of blunt abdominal traumas.
