Comparison of Wisconsin Card Sorting Test Between Neuroleptic-naive and Short-term Medicated Onset Schizophrenic Patients / 中国临床心理学杂志

ABSTRACT

Objective:

To explore the executive function of neuroleptic -naive and short -term medicated onset schizophrenic patients.

Methods:

55 drug naive patients and 49 patients with schizophrenia medicated for one month and 60 normal controls were administered the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test(WCST) to study the executive function.

Results:

Compared with the controls,neuroleptic-naive patients and medicated patients showed higher level in the number of total trials,perseverant errors,random errors,the rate of error responses and the rate of random errors,while they showed lower level in the number of categories,correct trials and the rate of correct responses.There was no significant difference in WCST between the neuroleptic-naive patients and medicated patients.

Conclusion:

Neuroleptic-naive and short-term medicated onset patients with schizophrenia may have executive dysfunction.
