Clinical trial on gatifloxacin against acute exacerbation ofchronic bronchitis (AECB) in adults / 重庆医科大学学报

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of gatifloxacin in the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis(AECB).Methods:23 patients in each group (trial or control) were treated with gatifloxacin or ciprofloxacin,respectively,for 5 to 14 days.Results:The clinical effective rates of the two groups were 91.3% and 78.3%,respectively.The bacterial eradication rates of the two groups were 91.7% and 72.7% respectively.Incidence of adverse reactions of the two groups were 12.5% and 8.7%,respectively.Conclusion:The efficacy and safty of gatifloxacin in treating AECB is reliable and superior to ciprofloxacin.
