[Conclusion] Closed bone-breaking therapy combined with splint fixation, traction, Chinese herbal medicine and dirigation is effective in treating malunion of traumatic fracture of femoral shaft with fast restoration, good apposition, less pain and complications. This method is simple, cheap and practicable. However, attention should be paid to the practice of bone-breaking operation before operation, the indications of deformity influencing function, and bone-breaking therapy being beneficial to the union of fracture should first be taken into consideration; during the operation, the manipulation should be gentle and accurate, damage to soft tissue, blood vessels, nerves and joints should be avoided; after operation, good reduction, splint fixation and traction should be done.
