ABSTRACT
Objective:To investigate the effect of vitamin E supplementation on oxidative stress in patients with MHD(maintenance hemodialysis).Methods:58 patients with MHD and 20 healthy volunteers were involved in this study. The patients were administered 400mg/d of vitamin E for 6 weeks. The plasma levels of oxidative parameters including vitamin E(VitE),malondialdehyde(MDA),advanced oxidation protein product(AOPP),superoxide dismutase(SOD),activity of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX) were measured at the initial and the end of VitE supplementation respectively. Results:Plasma levels of AOPP and MDA(187.27?54.9?mol/L vs99.05?26.2?mol/L,7.74?2.17nmol/ml vs3.06?1.70nmol/ml)were significantly higher in patients with MHD compared with healthy controls(P
