ABSTRACT
Seventy patients, who received type Ⅱ restoration of mandibular first molars in Department of Stomatology, Third People's Hospital of Shenyang, were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups, which were treated with silver amalgam filling and cobalt-chromium inlay, separately. The patients were followed up for 2 years to evaluate clinical outcomes such as marginal color, marginal adaptation, contour, secondary caries, and breakage of dental prosthetic restoration. The findings showed that cobalt-chromium inlay had better effect in marginal color, marginal adaptation and contour in class Ⅱcavity restoration than silver amalgam filling, and no material reaction or host reaction was found by two methods. This indicates that both kinds of materials have good biocompatibility, and cobalt-chromium inlay in the restoration of dental defect shows a more promising prospect.
