ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the value of low kilovoltage (100 kVp)in combination with sinogram affirmed iterative re-construction (SAFIRE)of flash dual source CT in pelvic scan in comparison with routine kilovoltage (120 kVp)and filtered back projection (FBP).Methods 88 patients with suspected pelvic lesions underwent CT scan, and the range of BMI was 1 9 kg/m2 patients were scanned with 120 kVp and FBP reconstruction (group 1 ),and other 43 with 100 kVp and SAFIRE reconstruction (selected strength level 3)(group 2).The other scanning parameters in all cases were similar.Mean CT values, image noise,SNR,CNR,subjective scoring and diagnosis efficiency between two groups were compared. Results The differ-ence in radiation dose (ED)between two groups was statistically significant (P <0.05 ),and the ED in group 2 was decreased by 35.42% in comparison with that in group 1.Compared with group 1,the noise in group 2 was decreased by 1 7.85%,however,the SNR and CNR were increased by 1 5.54% and 13.47% respectively, exhibiting statistically significant differences (P <0.05 ).No differences in quality score and lesion detection rate were found. Conclusion The pelvic images using low kilovoltage (100 kVp)and SAFIRE-3 of second-generation dual source CT can meet the diagnostic requirements with significantly reduced radiation dosage.
