From simple superfical X ray machines to intensity modulated radiotherapy: brief introduction for the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Cancer Hosptial of Fudan University / 中国癌症杂志

ABSTRACT

The Department of Radiation Oncology of the Cancer Hospital of Fudan University has evolved from the Section of Radiotherapy of the former Sino Belgium Radium Institute.After Liberation it became the Shanghai Radium Institute,and then later the Cancer Hospital of Shanghai First Medical College. From simple superficial X ray machines, rapid development has occruued,and now we have Linac accelerators, and even the most recent techniques, such as intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). The clinical results obtained in the Department are some of the best, many of them leading in their respective fields.
