Analysis of the students' individual factors in influencing the acceptance of PBL teaching method / 中华医学教育探索杂志

ABSTRACT
Objective To study whether the PBL teaching method is accepted by students and how individual factors affect their acceptance.Methods PBL teaching method was adopted in the pharmaceutical marketing course of tianjin medical university clinical medical college,and students' acceptance of PBL teaching method was investigated by using likert scale.The research subjects were asked to rate the recognition degree of "accepting and liking the PBL teaching method" and "the new teaching method is good,and I hope other courses can use it".1-5 points were set,and the higher the score,the higher the recognition degree.Then,binary logistic regression was used to further analyze the questionnaire data to find out the individual factors influencing students' acceptance of PBL.SPSS 19.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Results The average scores of the two statements were 4.14 and 3.11 respectively,indicating that the subjects generally accepted the PBL method.The standard deviations were 1.07 and 0.97 respectively,indicating that there was a large difference in the acceptance of PBL.Binary logistic regression was used for further analysis.The significance level was assumed to be 0.05,and there were 5 variables that significantly affected the model (P<0.05),including learning time,learning motivation,personality,learning ability and style.It indicates that these 5 variables have a significant influence on whether students accept PBL.Among them,the absolute value of the estimated coefficient of personality factor is the largest (2.190),which is the key factor influencing whether students accept PBL.Conclusion The application of PBL teaching method should give full play to improving the teamwork ability of students.Besides,teachers are expected to encourage students to adapt to discussion-based learning,optimize teaching arrangements and improve the scoring of PBL teaching method.
