ABSTRACT
odontogenic cyst(OKC), parakeratinized OKC, dentigerous cyst, and periapical cyst by the immunohistochemical assay using cell proliferation factor Ki-67, cell differentiation factor cytokeratin. To understand the invasiveness and recurrence rate of cysts, further can help patient treatment. The results were as follows. 1. The Ki-67 immunohistochemical assay showed that the epitherial cell proliferation decrease in the descending order of parakeratinized OKC, orthokeratinized OKC, dentigerious cyst, periapical cyst. 2. The high molecular weight cytokeratin(HM-CK) immunohistochemical assay showed positive at upper epitherium in parakeratinized OKC, but at basal layer in orthokeratinized OKC. 3. The low molecular weight cytokeratin(LM-CK) immunohistichemical assay showed negativity in the orthokeratinized OKC. This meant the orthokeratinized OKC showed positivity in less differentiated cells. 4. The cytokeratin immunohistochemical assay didn't show positivity at all, the cyst. It suggested that the parakeratinized OKC showed more invasiveness and recurrence rate. This immunohistochemical study should make a differential diagnosis of cysts and help patient treatment.
