ABSTRACT

One of the effective strategies to decrease maternal mortality rate is to improve midwifery core competencies, and midwifery education is the principal approach to cultivate core competency of midwife candidates. As the basis of midwifery care, to evaluate the core competencies of midwifery graduates helps estimate the outcome of midwifery education. This article is to review the concepts, evaluation indicators and methods of midwifery graduates core competencies, thereby providing reference for development of higher education in midwifery in China.
