ABSTRACT

Objective:

To establish a Early Warning Score for Intra-Abdominal Infection after gastrectomy, comparing the efficiency of Modified Early Warning Score, Early Warning Score for Intra-Abdominal Infection in patients after gastrectomy.

Methods:

Retrospective analysis was performed to construct the Early Warning Score for Intra-Abdominal Infection. And 342 patients with gastrectomy in the First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University from June 2018 to December 2018 were investigated by the two scales, and the efficiency of Early Warning Score for Intra-Abdominal Infection and Modified Early Warning Score was compared. The ability of the two methods to predict the occurrence of abdominal infection after gastrectomy was compared.

Results:

Take the predictive index, the area under the ROC curve of Early Warning Score for Intra-Abdominal Infection was 0.977, the sensitivity and specificity were 93.1% and 93.3%.Under the same circumstances, the area under the ROC curve of Modified Early Warning Score was 0.924, the sensitivity and specificity were 82.8% and 84.7%. Early Warning Score for Intra-Abdominal Infection had better predictive ability than the Modified Early Warning Score, and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2 values were 54.606, 315.479, P<0.05).

Conclusions:

Early Warning Score for Intra-Abdominal Infection can provide effective early warning for abdominal infection after gastrectomy, with strong specialization, feasibility and effectiveness.
