ABSTRACT

These days, QR codes are more widely used. Numerous benefits, including quick reading speed, error correction, 360-degree reading, multilingual support, robustness, and a broad range of applications, are offered by QR codes. The education industry is using QR codes on a large scale to make teaching and learning effective. In a few universities and colleges, faculties are using QR code technology in the classroom as well. The use of QR codes dramatically increased during COVID 19. It was the time when the whole world was trying to discover the potential of QR codes in different sectors. Now, QR codes have become an essential part of our lives. Almost every industry uses QR codes, including entertainment, education, sports, FMCG, textiles, restaurants, healthcare, and tourism. The objective of the study is to determine the different ways to use QR code in classroom and to find the factors that develop teachers' perception of use of QR codes in the classroom. The study also determines the role of QR code in making teaching learning effective. The data was collected from 50 faculty members of randomly selected five private universities of Haryana region through an online survey. The study found that in spite of multiple uses of QR codes in teaching, only a limited number of faculty members are using this technology in the classroom. The reason is that many teachers are not aware of different ways of using QR code in classroom. The study comes up with different factors that play an important role in developing teachers' perception of use of QR code in classroom. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Hypokinetic movement disorder and parkinsonian picture has been well described in literature following covid-19 but hyperkinetic MDS are very in global literatures. To investigate the epidemiology, clinical picture, the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in patients hyperkinetic MDS in this context and to know the time schedule of the onset of the MDS with exploring the possible pathogenesis Background: Infections are up to 20% of movement disorders. The most frequent agents are beta-hemolytic streptococcus, and flavivirus causing Japanese encephalitisThe role of the viral stimulation of microglial activation in neuroinflammation has regained attention in the context of covid19 Methods: Patients of MDS attended the clinic from 31st march 2020 to March 2022,with recent onset of hyperkinetic movements were screened. Subjects had medical history either prior to the study or medical history reviewed by physicians suggestive of covid.PCR +VE or Presence of covid antibody in blood or csf in patients with recent onset hyperkinetic MDS within 6-12 weeks of onset of symptoms except.Ventilatory cases Other markers were used to rule out other viral infections causing MDS.MRI brain and EEG as a routine in all Immune markers in very selected cases in suspected immuomediated MDSThe attempted treatment were symptomatic and immunotherapy Results: In last 2 years 50 cases of new onset Hyperkinetic MDS are recorded, out of which only 9 cases were directly or indirectly linked to Covid,Nystagmus, orofacial dyskinesia and segmental or generalized myoclonus and ataxic gait associated delirium, tremors and ocular movement disorders along with epileptic seizures are also seen.Positive EEG findings are in the form of diffused bihemispheric slowing or periodic complexes with polyspikes at irregular interval and delta brush in few cases .MRI findings varied between non-specific changes to bitemporoparietal hyperintensities in flair and T2 both cortical and subcortical or bilateral basal ganglia. Treatment response in all the cases are statisfactory Conclusion(s): observational study revealed MDS in covid do happen Myoclonus is the most Frequent movement disorder associated with COVID-19 followed by dystonia and tremors .pathophysiology included neuro inflammation, autoimmune mechanisms and small vessels thrombosis hence not be co-incidental , response to steroid also s/o immune mediated.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: During the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, a surge in acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (AIFRS) cases with high mortality was reported in India. Objective: The objective was to study the spectrum of fungus associated with AIFRS during the pandemic of COVID-19. Materials and Methods: A total of 51 patients who were clinically diagnosed as cases of acute invasive rhinosinusitis in the department of ear, nose and throat (ENT) were included in the study. The clinical data along with demographic details were noted, and fungal identification was done using a conventional method. Results: Out of 51 patients, 66.6% were males and 33.4% females. Predominantly affected age group was 41-50 years. Out of 51 patients, 92.15% (47/51) had suffered from COVID-19 and 7.8% (4/51) did not have COVID-19 infection previously. Thirty-seven patients out of 51 (72.54%) were diabetics. Out of 51 samples collected from patients, 94.11% (48/51) were fungal culture-positive and only 5.8% (3/51) were culture-negative. A total of 52 fungi were isolated from the 48 culture-positive samples. Mucormycetes were predominantly isolated from the samples followed by Aspergillus species and Candida species. Among mucormycetes, Rhizopus species was the predominantly isolated. Conclusion: Patients with COVID-19, especially those at high risk, need to undergo an ENT examination once they recover because an early identification of AIFRS and a strong clinical suspicion of the disease are crucial for a successful course of treatment and to improve patient prognosis. © 2022 Medical Journal of Babylon ;Published by Wolters Kluwer - Medknow.

ABSTRACT

The chapter presents a case study on how Indian hotel industry was affected by COVID-19. Three hotels-Lemon Tree, Oyo Rooms, and Taj Hotels-were selected to elaborate. The study found that the hotel industry developed various policies to keep running their hotels during the pandemic. Lemon Tree joined various hospitals to provide rooms to COVID patients, provided free food and face masks to individuals. Oyo Rooms gave employee stock ownership plans of Rs 130 crore to its COVID-hit employees. Taj Hotels did not cut down the salaries of their employees and reduced its seating capacity by 50%. The study concluded that as the hospitality sector battled hard to continue during the pandemic, modernization would become an imperative tool in the post-COVID period to beat obstructions and spotlight advancement. So, the companies should minimize fixed costs and maximize variable costs. They should preferably have liquid cash available that could enable them to mitigate the risk. © 2022, IGI Global.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Health-care workers (HCWs) have been designated as the highest priority group to receive the coronavirus (CoV) vaccine. The study aimed to assess the awareness and perception about the CoV vaccine and the factors associated with the acceptance or rejection of vaccines among HCWs in India. Materials and Methods: An online cross-sectional study using a convenience sampling method was conducted between January 5 and January 14, 2021, just before the initiation of CoV vaccination among HCWs in India. Questions to assess awareness and perception were developed based on the information available on the public health websites. HCWs' willingness to accept the vaccines was also studied along with the factors associated with acceptance or rejection of CoV vaccination. Results: The study received responses from 496 HCWs. Awareness about the CoV vaccine was low, with a mean score of 5.44 (standard deviation = 2.91). Willingness to accept CoV vaccination was found in 63.51% of HCWs with the main reason to protect their family and colleagues (43.73%). The majority of HCWs agreed with the emergency authorization of CoV vaccines (65.93%) and agreed that vaccines will break the chain of transmission of infection (65.73%). Perception of vaccine effectiveness (odds ratio [OR] = 8.52, P = 0.000) and higher awareness (OR = 2.86, P = 0.000) were significantly associated with willingness to accept CoV vaccination. Conclusion: HCWs have the responsibility to disseminate correct information and risks about vaccinations among the public. Health authorities should continue encouraging the increase of the knowledge and awareness of the utility of vaccines among HCWs. The following core competencies are addressed in this article: Medical knowledge, Professionalism, Patient care and procedural skills, and Systems-based practice.

ABSTRACT

With consistent efforts for the last four decades in the area of family planning, it had been a rare instance to receive emergencies with uterine perforation, gut injury, septicaemia, and multiorgan failure with unsafe surgical intervention. But Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused major disruption to the family planning information and services globally. These gaps have been due to breakdown in contraceptive supply chains, closure of primary healthcare and abortion clinics, diversion of staff from family planning services to COVID-19 response team and the poor response was also due to fear of infection in hospital. As a result, many unsafe abortions in the form of near-miss mortality nightmares were revisited. The present series is of five cases, done at a tertiary care teaching hospital wherein there was mismanagement of the abortion due to lack of expert services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Uterine perforation with sepsis was observed in all the patients with bowel injury in three and broad ligament haematoma in one patient. A comprehensive, women's sexual health system response to address family planning services provision during pandemics is the need of the hour for India to avoid unwanted pregnancies and prevent additional mortality and morbidity in women.

The article suggests a new definition of the «social policy» concept through analyzing the content of the category in question. The public administration approach to understanding the «social policy» concept is also outlined. The article identifies the priority directions of transformations in the EU member states' social policy, which are taking place due to globalization challenges. Based on these areas, the main principles of European social policy are identified, namely: inclusiveness, gender equality, digitalization, support for youth policy development (employment, education), and financial education of citizens. Social policy in such countries as Canada, Germany, China, and Australia is analyzed, and peculiarities of its changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic are considered in the following areas: support for employment, social rotection and the unemployed;social support for certain social groups;support for business development. The main means helping to implement the outlined areas are identified, namely: creation of funds to support certain social groups;formation of favorable conditions for lending to small, medium and large businesses;financing of various social programs (providing employment, training, and wage subsidies). The main directions of domestic social policy in the COVID-19 pandemic are also given. Relevant conclusions on domestic and foreign experience in the implementation of social policy are formed. Further research can be related to the issues of creating a mechanism for an effective social policy implementation.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The study aimed to assess knowledge, attitude, practices, and perception (KAP) toward COVID-19 among the population of eight North Eastern (NE) states of India. Methods: A cross-sectional study from June 30 to July 13, 2020 was carried out through a self-reported, structured questionnaire that was circulated online to participants of age group of 18 years or above. Convenient sampling was used to recruit respondents for the study. Results: The study received responses from 8309 participants. Key findings revealed that most respondents had good knowledge of preventive measures and common symptoms of COVID-19. The majority of the respondents showed a good attitude and adopted preventive practices. The mean score of knowledge was 7.137, attitude was 16.132, practice was 9.379, and perception was 13.583. The scores of four KAP categories significantly differed across most of the demographic variables (p<0.001). The majority of people took homoeopathic medicine as prophylaxis for immune booster. Conclusion: The study highlights that the focus on behavioral change communication in all the NE states could be strengthened, especially in rural areas. Advocacy based on the comprehensive list of symptoms for COVID-19 may also be bolstered. There is scope for strategically promoting knowledge, immunity boosting, and self-care practices suggested in the AYUSH systems of medicine.
