ABSTRACT

In recent years, on-site visitation has been strictly restricted in many scenic areas due to the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Cloud tourism”, also called online travel, uses high-resolution photographs taken by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as the dominant data source and has attracted much attention. Due to the differences between ground and aerial observation perspectives, the landscape elements that affect the beauty of colored-leaved forests are quite different. In this paper, Qixia National Forest Park in Nanjing, China, was chosen as the case study area, and the best viewpoints were selected by combining tourists' preferred viewing routes with a field survey, followed by a scenic beauty evaluation (SBE) of the forests with autumn-colored leaves in 2021 from the aerial and ground perspectives. The results show that (1) the best viewpoints can be obtained through the spatial overlay of five landscape factors: elevation, surface runoff, slope, aspect, and distance from the road;(2) the dominant factors influencing the beauty of colored-leaved forests from the aerial perspective are terrain changes, forest coverage, landscape composition, landscape contrast, the condition of the human landscape, and recreation frequency;and (3) the beauty of the ground perspective of the colored-leaved forests is strongly influenced by the average diameter at breast height (DBH), the dominant color of the leaves, the ratio of the colored-leaved tree species, the canopy width, and the fallen leaf coverage. The research results can provide scientific reference for the creation of management measures for forests with autumn-colored leaves. © 2023 by the authors.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had a huge impact on the global medical, political and economic fields. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, our understanding of the impact of COVID-19 has grown exponentially. Recently, the COVID-19 epidemic has changed rapidly in China, and there has been controversy over how to carry out surgical operations for patients with lung neoplastic lesions. Some studies have shown that lung cancer patients undergoing surgery are more likely to experience respiratory failure and perioperative death after contract-ing COVID-19 than the general population, however, delays in cancer treatment are also associated with increased mortality among these patients. In particular, the novel coronavirus Omikron variant has a higher transmissibility and may escape the immunity obtained through the previous novel coronavirus infection and vaccination. In order to minimize the risk of novel coronavirus infection in surgical patients, it is necessary to develop new treatment guidelines, expert consensus and preventive measures. However, the current rapid change of the epidemic situation has led to insufficient time and evidence to develop guidelines and consensus. Therefore, thoracic surgeons need to evaluate specific patient populations at higher risk of severe complications before surgery and weigh the benefit of surgical treatment against the risk of novel coronavirus infection. We try to give some recommendations on lung surgery during the current domestic epidemic situation based on the guidelines and consensus of oncology and thoracic surgery organizations in different regions on lung surgery.Copyright © 2023, Chinese Journal of Lung Cancer. ABSTRACT

Using the non-parametric thermal optimal path method, we investigate the dynamic lead–lag relationship between carbon emission trading and stock markets in China, and further consider the impact of different types of exogenous shocks on the lead–lag relationship. The empirical results show that the stock market leads the carbon market on most trading days, and the relationship reverses when the mean values of carbon market return are significantly smaller than zero. In addition, the lead–lag relationships when the carbon market leads the high energy-consuming stock market sectors are more obvious. We also find that there exist significant heterogeneous effects of different types of exogenous shocks on the lead–lag relationship between the two markets, including government policy, the Sino-US trade war and the Covid-19 outbreak. These findings have the potential to help regulators understand the interrelationship between components of the financial market, and be of great value for investors to optimize portfolio allocation by incorporating carbon assets into the portfolio. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.

ABSTRACT

This study investigated a SARS-CoV-2 virus detection mechanism using dry-stored disposable strips. The accuracy of this sensing platform is as good as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with a detection time of fewer than 30 s. SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were biofunctionalized on disposable strips similar to glucose detection strips to detect the presence and concentrations of SARS-CoV-2 in saliva samples. Eight 1 ms electric pulses were sent through the sensor strip with a saliva sample in its microfluidic chamber. A circuit board embedded with MOSFET was also employed to amplify the detected signals and convert the signal to digital readings displayed on an LCD screen. The COV-antibody functionalized disposable strips were stored in a dry condition for at least one day before analyzing clinical human saliva samples with known cycling threshold (Ct) values confirmed with conventional PCR tests. Results demonstrate our system is capable of showing qualitative positive or negative results within 30 s and providing quantitative SARS-CoV-2 concentrations in terms of Ct values in 5 min. ABSTRACT

The analytical specificity and microbial interference of a SARS-CoV-2 biosensor detection platform were elucidated in this work. A cost-effective and highly sensitive detection system for the virus has been developed with the capability of producing quantitative results comparable with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) within 30 s. This could meet the demand for a fast diagnosis solution needed for the ongoing global pandemic. Disposable strips were biofunctionalized and immobilized with monoclonal SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. A printed circuit board embedded with a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) was also designed. The strips were connected to the gate electrode of the MOSFET, which received a synchronous pulse along with the drain electrode. The resulting waveform from the drain was then converted to digital readouts corresponding to virus or spike protein concentrations. We investigated 26 common organisms which are likely presented in the respiratory system along with 5 pathogens from the same genetic family of the SARS-CoV-2 virus for having cross-reaction or microbial interference, either of which would hinder the efficacy of the system. None of these organisms decreased the virus detection effectiveness of the sensor system.

ABSTRACT

In the emergency of the outbreak of COVID-19 in December 2019, Shaanxi Provincial Health Committee mobilized several medical teams from major hospitals in the province, and, by relying on Xi'an Chest Hospital, jointly established an anti COVID-19 consortium to control and eradicate the epidemic in a short time. Information support is an important guarantee for winning this battle. In order to realize the efficient cooperation among multiple medical teams, we have carried out some exploratory and innovative information support services on the basis of the original information system of the chest hospital. In this process, we have gone through some detours. Some compromises were made on some problems that could not be solved in the short term. Finally, in an environment full of uncertainty, a set of information support management system with basically smooth operation was built through rapid trial and error adjustment. The system mainly includes the following aspects: support of the organizational structure and operation process of the anti-epidemic consortium, support for medical collaboration related businesses of multiple medical teams, and support for statistical reports and online meetings. Information support has played a very important role in this action, and this practice has also accumulated experience for us to deal with similar situations in the future.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To select nucleic acid extraction reagents and amplification reagents by comparing the minimum detection limit, amplification efficiency, specificity, accuracy, and matching analysis with 6 nucleic acid extraction reagents of 6 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) nucleic acid detection reagents and provide scientific basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods: The national-standard material of 2019-nCoV nuclear acids was diluted as ths six fradient concentrations. Then, the diluted samples were analyzed by using the six kinds of agents/kits, Guangzhou Daan (DA), Beijing Jinhao (JH), Wuhan Mingde (MD), Sichuan Mike (MK), Jiangsu Shuoshi (SS) and Shanghai Zhijiang (ZJ). The minimum detection limit, amplification efficiency, accuracy, specificity and other properties of these kits were examined. The positive control levels 1, 2 (low and medium concentration) were extracted by using the six nucleic acid extraction reagents (numbered a-f) with six 2019-nCoV detective kits to detect target genes of 2019-nCoV genome, and compared between different nucleic acid extraction reagents and different nucleic acid detection reagents. Match between the different nucleic acid extraction reagents detection reagents, using two-way analysis of variance. Results: The minimum detection limit of Nucleocapsid (N) gene of DA, JH, MD, SS reagent was 7.0×102 copies/ml.The minimum detection limit of open reading frame 1ab (ORF1ab) gene of JH, MD, SS, MK reagent was 9.39 ×102 copies/ml.The minimum detection limit of envelope (E) gene of MK, ZJ reagent was 5.03×102 copies/ml. SS reagent N gene amplification efficiency was 89%, ORF1ab gene amplification efficiency was 90%, was the highest among six reagents.a, b, c, d extraction reagents and 6 nucleic acid detection reagents match well, But a extraction reagent was more suitable for use with SS,MK and ZJ reagents (P<0.05), d extraction reagent was more suitable for MD,SS,DA,JH and MK nucleic acid detection reagents(P<0.05);e extraction reagent was more suitable for SS nucleic acid detection reagents(P<0.05), f extraction reagent was most suitable for DA, JH Nucleic acid detection reagents (P<0.05);e and f reagents were not suitable for use with MK and ZJ. Conclusion: The 6 detection reagents have good performance, and the appropriate extraction reagents and detection reagents should be used in conjunction with the actual conditions of the laboratory.

ABSTRACT

Detecting the existence of SARS-CoV-2 in the indoor atmosphere is a practical solution to track the prevalence and prevent the spread of the virus. In this work, a thermophoretic approach is presented to collect the novel coronavirus-laden aerosols from the air and accumulate to high concentrations adequate for the sensitivity of viral RNA detection. Among the factors, the density and particle size have negligible effects on particle trajectory, while the vertical coordinates of particles increase with the rise in heating source temperature. When the heating temperature is higher than 355 K , all of the particles exit the channel from one outlet; thus, the collecting and accumulating of virus-laden aerosols can be realized. This study provides a potential approach to accelerate the detection of SARS-CoV-2 and avoid a false negative in the following RNA test.

ABSTRACT

China's CDC novel coronavirus pneumonia emergency response mechanism was announced on February 17, 2020. As of February 11, novel coronavirus had infected 3 019 medical staff (including 1 716 confirmed cases;suspected cases, clinically diagnosed cases and cases of asymptomatic infections). The reports showed that more than 80% of the patients were medical workers in general wards, which might be caused by nosocomial infection due to inadequate protection. Radiographers, who encounter patients in different departments of the hospital, also have the risk of occupational exposure to novel coronavirus pneumonia caused by strong viral infection, inadequate protection, and poor immunity. Therefore, the emergency plan is formulated for this risk in order to ensure their safety and the orderly progress of the work, provide practical basis for the future improvement and development of the emergency plan for radiographers to respond to emergent public events, and also provide ideas for peers to deal with emergencies.
