ABSTRACT

The present study is an attempt to establish relationship between the concentrations of particulate matter especially (PM2.5) and background meteorological parameters over Delhi, India with the help of statistical and correlative analysis. This work presents the evaluation of air quality in three different locations of Delhi. These locations were selected to fulfil the characteristics as residential, industrial and background locations and performed the analysis for pre and post covid-19, i.e. for 2019 and 2021. The outcome of the study shows that the meteorological parameters have significant influence on the PM2.5 concentration. It was also found that it has a seasonality with low concentration in the monsoon season, moderate in the pre-monsoon season and high during the winters and post-monsoon seasons. However, the statistical and correlative study shows a negative relation with the temperature during the winter, pre-monsoon and post-monsoon and has a positive correlation during the monsoon season. Similarly, it also has been observed that the concentration of PM2.5 shows strong negative correlation with temperature during the high humid conditions, i.e. when the relative humidity is above 50%. However, a weak correlation with ambient temperature has been established during the low humidity condition, i.e. below 50%. The overall study showed that the highest PM2.5 pollution has been observed at residential location followed by industrial and background. The study also concluded that the seasonal meteorology has a complex role in the PM2.5 concentration of the selected areas.

ABSTRACT

YouTube videos have been a significant source of public health and food safety misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically. the washing of produce with soap and other substances was promoted in the early stages of the pandemic through YouTube videos. There- fore. we conducted a study to analyze produce washing messaging in YouTube videos posted during. compared to prior to. the COVlD-19 pandemic. Videos were identified via targeted keyword searches. Produce washing meth. ads were coded and classified according to government recommendations. A total of 100 YouTube videos were identified and analyzed: 56 videos were posted during the pandemic and 34 before the pandemic. Of the 100 videos. 70 contained nenfactuel information about produce washing. Videos posted by bloggers were more likely to contain nonfactuel information compared to videos posted by the government and organizations {78 versus 2.9%]. Videos posted during the pandemic were more likely to have nnnfactual information than those posted before the pandemic [56 versus 17%]. This study found that individual. bloggers contributed to the spread of misinformafion about produce washing in YouTube videos, resulting in potentially harmful behavior changes among consumers. Efforts are needed from food safety educators and public health officials to improve the accuracy of fund safety information disseminated on YouTube.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: The global outbreak of COVID-19 and its subsequent varied impacts on different economic activities necessitate to examine its disruptions and impacts on livestock sector in India due to its recently surging potential as an unrivaled alternative to boost farmer's income. Design/methodology/approach: The studies for review were identified through search in different databases using relevant keywords. Only full text papers written in English language were reviewed. The review was organized and streamlined using Covidence software. Findings: Analysis of the literature reveals adverse effects of COVID-19 on functioning of input and output stages of livestock supply chains. This has resulted in upstream and downstream economic losses that affect livelihoods of the producers. Research limitations/implications: Scale of unprecedented crisis due to COVID-19 pandemic requires creative policy decisions to make livestock production systems robust, resilient and sustainable. Organized production systems are required to integrate with livestock-tech startups to modernize their supply chains, whereas local supply chains are required to reorient with government's intervention in terms of developing on-farm production and postproduction processing facilities. Originality/value: Although there exist some evidence on COVID-19-related impacts on livestock sector of India, but an integrated review of evidence on COVID-19 related disruptions at all the stages (from input supply to marketing) of livestock supply chains was missing. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

Leprosy is the oldest disease affecting humankind since ancient times. Despite MDT's availability for disease curability, vast pockets of multi-bacillary (MB) cases persist in the community. We conducted this study to know the clinico-epidemiological trends of leprosy over four years and five months in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic (C19P). A total of 90 cases were registered;59 (65.5%) were males, and 31 (34.5%) were females. The majority (69%) of cases were in the 15-45 age groups. Childhood leprosy was detected in 3(3.3%) cases. A history of contact with leprosy patients could be established in 16 (17.8%) cases. The cases comprised 54.5% local inhabitants and 45.5% were migrants. The MB cases 77 out of 90 (85.6%) were in higher proportion than pauci-bacillary (PB) cases. In the clinical spectrum, BL leprosy was most common in 39% of cases, followed by LL and BT leprosy. Thirty-seven (41%) patients were suffering from lepra reactions (LR), and out of them, 59.4% had type 2 reactions (T2R), and the rest had type 1 reactions (T1R). Disabilities were found in a total of 56 (62.2%) cases, and grade 2 disabilities (G2D) were recorded in 25 (44.6%) patients. Ulnar nerve (UN) was most commonly affected nerve in 64.4% of cases, followed by lateral peroneal (LPN) and posterior tibial nerve (PTN). We observed the impact of Covid 19 infection peak C19P in two ways;firstly, during the C19P peak in 2020, there was a drastic fall in total registered cases (TRC) to 4/year against 22/year in pre-C19P with a relative increase in LRs and disabilities. In post-C19P peak periods, not only was there a marked rise in TRC (20/5 months), but LR (50%) and disabilities (75%) also showed a significant rise. A high proportion of MB cases, LRs and disability rates indicate the need for population-based studies and subsequent public health measures for early diagnosis and treatment. Further large sample-sized, in-depth studies can tell the exact impact of C19P on leprosy.Copyright © Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh, New Delhi.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The entire world has been affected by Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and experts all over the world are working hard to combat this global pandemic. There is a panic among people with resultant psychosocial consequences. Aim: To evaluate the fear factor of COVID-19 using Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) among two groups of patients, one with dermatological diseases managed with immunomodulators and second with dermatological diseases not requiring immunosuppression and also to counsel both the groups regarding the course of their disease and tailoring their visits to the hospital accordingly. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from 16th January 2021 to 30th April 2021 in the Outpatient Department (OPD) of Dermatology of a tertiary care centre, Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. Consecutive 52 patients meeting the inclusion criteria, with dermatological diseases requiring long-term immunosuppressive therapy and 49 patients with dermatological diseases or cosmetic concerns not requiring immunosuppressive treatment were enrolled for the study. The obtained data was analysed using Epi Info software version 7.2.4.0. results: A total number of 101 patients were enrolled in the study with a male to female ratio of 1.7:1. Mean age of patients was 41 years (range 18-71 years). Among them, 52 (51.49%) had chronic diseases with relapsing and remitting course requiring immunomodulator drugs and 49 (48.51%) had either cosmetic concerns or diseases not requiring immunomodulation. Seventeen (16.83%) of the total patients had other co-morbidites like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, chronic kidney disease or cardiac diseases. Out of all the study participants, 3 (2.9%) had severe fear, 16 (15.8%) had moderate fear, 36 (35.6%) had mild fear and 46 (45.5%) had no fear of COVID-19. conclusion: During this pandemic time, patients need to be counselled regarding the course and management of their diseases and stress factor should also be addressed.

ABSTRACT

World over, COVID-19 pandemic has affected the behavior and livelihoods of the people. The impact is reflected in the power system operations and electricity markets. This paper examines the impact of COVID-19 on different Indian electricity market segments. The utilities on both demand side and supply side responded to situation with depressed volumes and prices. The paper also describes the measures taken by the system operator to cope up with the situation. The paper traces the resilience exhibited by Indian power system stakeholders in handling exceptional events during lockdown such as cyclones, eclipse and lights switch-off event. The implementation of initiatives such as Real Time Market and expansion of Security Constrained Economic Despatch pilot in this challenging environment is discussed briefly. The paper concludes with possible course of action contemplated for the future of Indian electricity market post COVID-19. © 2020 IEEE

ABSTRACT

Covid-19 has led to a shift towards online therapy. This paper focuses on therapists’ experiences of translating systemic practice online with families. A range of UK services are represented, including community, inpatient, adult and children services. A social construction theory, coordinated management of meaning, is used to understand online family and systemic therapy. The new context of online therapy influenced all other levels of the therapeutic encounter including content and structure of sessions, therapeutic relationship, therapists’ identity and culture of therapy. The relationship between ‘doing’ online therapy and reflecting on practice has been central in co-constructing new ways of interacting. There were many similarities across services, where there were differences these were client and context specific. As better ways of engaging emerged, therapists became more confident, creativity in therapy increased and attitudes about online therapy became more positive. Practitioner points: Online systemic therapy is possible across adult and children services at different tiers within community and inpatient settings. CMM provides a framework to understand communication in online therapy. Online therapy requires reconsiderations at all levels of the therapeutic encounter. Increased confidence and competence correlates with positive attitudes about online therapy. Online therapy is impacting on the overall evolving culture of therapy. © 2021 The Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice
