ABSTRACT

Many programs have made the submission of GRE scores optional. Little research examines differences in propensity to submit scores according to applicants’ characteristics, however, including the type of undergraduate institution they attended. This study’s purpose was to examine the degree to which the type of undergraduate institution applicants attended predicted score submission to GRE-optional programs, including when controlling for covariates (demographics, program degree and discipline, undergraduate grades). We used data provided by a doctoral degree–granting university to answer our research question. We indexed differences in GRE score submission using odds ratios. Both individually (1.93) and after controlling for covariates (2.00), we found that applicants from small, bachelor’s degree–granting schools were more likely to submit scores than applicants from large, doctoral degree–granting schools. Men were more likely to submit scores than women (1.55). Larger effects were observed for program characteristics: Ph.D. versus master’s (2.94), humanities versus social sciences (3.23), and fine arts versus social sciences (0.16). Our findings suggest that there may be differences in propensity to submit GRE scores to test-optional programs and that some of these differences may be associated with variables (undergraduate school, program type) that have not been widely discussed in the literature.

ABSTRACT

The study analyses the Scientometric analysis of the Quantitation techniques on the Publications trend has been measured in the field of Palaeontology based on the Scopus data for the period of study between 2005 and 2019. The topmost productive year was 2019 with 998 records (8.28%). Similarly the least productive year was 2005 with 371 records (3.08%). The publications, from 2005 to 2012 (8 years) 45.82% publications were found;whereas from 1913 to 2019 (7 years) 54.18% publications were found. The maximum number of citations in the year 2011 comprises 24683 citations and the minimum number of citations is 3115 in 2019. The maximum number of citations per paper is 39.28 in 2006. The highest exponential growth rate was found to be 1.23 in the year 2010 with 909 publications. The highest AGR was found in the year 2010 (23) followed by the year 2007 (21.83). The maximum RGR value is found to be 0.79 in the year 2006 and the minimum value is found to be 0.08 in the year 2018. Here the correlation coefficient of these two variables is 0.96. The highest CC 0.61 is reported in the year 2019. The overall CC =0.53 which is far from 0. The highest MCC 0.61 has been reported in the year 2019. The lowest MCC 0.40 has been reported in the year in 2006. The overall MCC is 0.53. The journal titled "Journal of Vertebrate Palaeontology" occupied the first position with 1494 publications. The second most productive journal was " PLoS ONE " with 471 publications.

ABSTRACT

Women face tremendous obstacles to success in academic institutions. While we have witnessed incredible progress in some areas of representation of students, staff, or faculty who are women, outcomes by gender continue to be impacted by structural challenges in higher education. One structural barrier is the availability of child care. The article examines the availability and characteristics of child care centers at institutions with a public service commitment to social equity, as evidenced by offering degree programs accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Public Affairs, and Public Administration (NASPAA). Findings indicate that, of the 173 schools with NASPAA-accredited programs, 127 schools (73%) provide some type of child care for students, faculty, or staff members. However, the average full-time cost per child exceeds affordability guidelines which indicates a significant structural factor in child-care accessibility. While findings are descriptive, this study provides evidence of institutional barriers for women in academia.

ABSTRACT

The Study examines the Biodiversity in India as revealed in the database of web of science in the year of 1991-2017. It was seen that the analysis included author productivity, authorship pattern, degrees of collaboration, year wise Cited references, Relative growth rate, and doubling time. This study also verified Lotka's Inverse square law of author productivity, Price's Square root law, Pareto Principle (80·20 Rule).
